Dear Parents, May 15, 2015

Next week your child will bring home his/her writing portfolio. We hope you have a chance to look at his/her portfolio and add to the comments at the end of the portfolio. We were quite impressed with the quality of your child’s work. We asked a lot of your child and he/she gave us even more than we expected. We are very proud of his/her progress. We hope you will take time to read your child’s portfolio and share it with other family members. Enjoy!

We are asking each child to bring a sponge/rag on Wednesday, May 20.

Your child has been given a summer math packet to be completed over the summer and brought back to school in August completed, in pencil, with all work shown. Please work on it a little each day.

Summer suggestions:
1. Please try to review math facts, concepts, and problem solving with you child over the summer. Math is the area that suffers the most from three months of summer.
2. Have your child visit this summer. Houghton Mifflin and Sylvan Learning Center are the sponsors of Book Adventure. This program allows children to create personalized reading lists at their own reading level. After your child reads the book, there is an on-line comprehension quiz available. We highly recommend this wonderful site! You could have your child register at to start his/her own group and write reviews about the books he/she has read. Your child could invite friends/family to join the group and share reviews of books they have read.
3. In this week’s Friday folder you will find a suggested reading list for the summer. If your child is looking for a good book, he/she will find several on this list.

Thank you for all you have done to help make this school year a success. Know that we have appreciated your cooperation and support throughout the year. May God bless you with a relaxing summer. Enjoy your children. We sure did!
